We were reading an article on a cool website recently called brandtags.net.

The premise of this site is to convey that brands exist in only what people think of them. On their homepage, they display a brand, such as EPSON, and below, you type in the first word or phrase that comes to mind. Click submit and viola! You can see what other people think of the EPSON brand. The larger the word, the more people have typed it in. The results are interesting, and we wonder if the brand managers of these large companies have taken a look at what people really think when they see their logo. Perhaps it would help them in their brand positioning…

I stumbled upon this on Live Journal. It was an interesting question posed by “Writers Block”, and since Mama’s ultimate goal is to create successful branding, I read on. This was the question:

What makes you loyal to a brand?

 Some answers were:

  • quality, and convenient customer support
  • well this might sound stupid, but I like a brand if I see a lot of celebrities using the same brand. I guess it “ups my faith” in it. Plus I like looking like I’m a celebrity too.
  • No Animal Testing, Environmentally Responsible, Vegan, I have to like it, Quality, Price, Customer Service
  • Affordable quality, and availability. Quality isn’t enough to keep me a loyal customer if it’s something out of my price range, and if it’s something I can’t find my city, I’m not able to be a loyal customer.
  • I always buy the things that are the best quality for the best price
  • I am only loyal to a brand if it does stuff I want for the cheapest price available.
  • Well first I have to find something awesome or the brand has to go recomended by someone who has taste I trust.then the brand just has to keep coming out with awesome stuff.
  • If it’s a good brand and I’ve been using it for a long time, or I like how it looks and functions, I’m loyal to it.
  • For some items, the brand means nothing.  I have never found a difference between brands of macaroni, therefore, I go with price on that.
  • I think it’s all based on the quality of the product. If it works, it works.
