Pantone recently released their new color of the year for 2009- Mimosa.

They describe the color as warm and engaging, and suggest that “in a time of economic uncertainty and political change, optimism is paramount and no other color expresses hope and reassurance more than yellow.” and “the color yellow exemplifies the warmth and nurturing quality of the sun, properties we as humans are naturally drawn to for reassurance”.

The color is bright, cheery and mentally stimulating, and yellow has also been known to alleviate depression and aid in communication and creativity.

Hunger Action Month

September is Hunger Action Month, and the Atlanta Community Food Bank has launched their “30 Ways in 30 Days” campaign to help end hunger. You can download the calendar HERE.

We are proud to have helped the Atlanta Community Food Bank with the design of 45,000 bookmarks that were printed and distributed to libraries and students across Atlanta, as well as their ”30 Ways in 30 Days” calendar.

The ACFB is one of 205 food banks across the nation participating in the first-ever Hunger Action Month. Get involved this September and find out more at The Atlanta Community Food Bank.

“Have you seen a truly awfulpiece of Photoshop work? Clumsy manipulation, senseless comping, lazy cloning and thoughtless retouching are our bread and butter. And yes, deep down, we love Photoshop.”

That says it all. Check out Photoshop Disasters to see some truly horrific Photoshop tragedies.

Today is the first day of the Persian New Year. Take a look at the Google graphic above that incorporates the “haft-seen”, or “seven S’s” that Iranians put out for the new year. Each item carries its own meaning: for instance, coins to bring wealth, garlic represents health/medicine, and so on. Each item starts with the letter “seen”, or “s” in Farsi. Iranians everywhere celebrate this non-religious day that dates back over 3000 years. Happy New Year and a good job by Google for illustrating this!

A campaign logo is supposed to capture the essence of the candidates distilled into their purest form.

In honor of Super Tuesday, there is a great cartoon slideshow on the New York Times called “Reading Tea Leaves & Campaign Logos” that is brilliant. Check it out HERE.
